RUNNING (a little short story).

I was running as fast as my tiny, blood-flecked legs could carry me. Running through the jungle, away from the scary unknown. Tripping, falling, cutting my legs on everything, and all the while running. My breath was slow and ragged, my chest rising and falling in quick succession. I hear twigs breaking behind, and that begins to motivate me even more. My legs start pumping harder than pistons, rising and falling in sequence, all a bit like a machine. The wind rippled through my shirt, sending a shiver down my spine. I look ahead of me, see a clearing, but I forget to look down. I trip over an upturned tree root, falling flat on my face. I rush to get up, all the blood draining from my face. I look behind me but see nothing except for broken twigs and leaves fluttering to the ground. I continue running. Pushing my self. Harder. Harder. I reach the clearing and see a huge lake. I scan my surroundings and see no way around it except for swimming through it. I don’t know what to do. I turn around, in time to see it appear from the bushes…

Hope you enjoyed this short story, as it is my first post ever on the website!! (YAY) You WILL be seeing more stuff from me!!
